Barry M Nude and Barry M Rose Quartz Glitter

Hi all! I'm back with another couple of Barry M polishes today. I used them together in this manicure. This is Barry M Nude with Barry M Rose Quartz Glitter. The first three pictures are taken in my lightbox. I did this manicure as a glitter sandwich. First, two coats of Barry M Nude, then a coat of Rose Quartz Glitter in a gentle gradient with more of the glitter concentrated at the tips. Then another coat of Nude and another coat of the glitter, again in a gentle gradient.

The Rose Quartz Glitter is made up of rose gold hex glitters mixed with tiny holographic glitters. It's really very pretty in real life.

I did like this manicure quite a bit. I received a lot of compliments with this one for the few days I wore it. I think I hadn't been in the mood for a nude mani at the time so I didn't love it like I have certain others.

I took these last two pictures in my bathroom. The lighting there always seems to give such a different look to some of my polishes. Real, but different. I quite liked the way it looked so I thought I'd include them here too.

And that's it. Again, thanks for looking!!

Barry M Coral with Yellow Topaz Glitter

Holiday weekend is over and we're back to the same old, same old. We're back to swatch posts from the vault again. This is a two in one, Barry M Coral topped with Barry M Yellow Topaz Glitter. I love the coral but I LOVE the glitter. It's so lovely in real life. Great mix of sizes, some are holographic, spreads evenly with good coverage but doesn't overpower the base. I love it. I don't know why I haven't used it more. Oh, wait, I know. I have enough polish to last me two lifetimes. Oh yeah.

Here's Coral by itself. This is three coats for full coverage. It's really less orange than it appears here but I can never take pictures of coral without it looking too orange.

Thanks for stopping by!!

My Fourth of July themed manicure using magnetic polishes

Happy 4th of July everyone!! I had most of the weekend off and just had to work a little bit today. It's been an amazing, relaxing weekend with awesome weather and a lot of hanging out with family thrown in. I'm really sorry to see the end of it!!

Even though I'm behind in showing you guys my regular manis, I have to try to show you my holiday manicures relatively on time. I have been really into magnetic manis lately, not that you could tell since I haven't shown you most of them yet. Since I've been so into them lately. I decided to do a magnetic polish July 4th mani.

NailaDay: July 4th 2016 Magnetic Manicure

For this look, I dry brushed a magnetic polish over the same color metallic polish, added a thick coat of Seche Vite and then used a neodymium magnet over it.

NailaDay: July 4th 2016 Magnetic Manicure

The polishes I used for this are Sinful Colors Snow Me White (white base), Orly Torrid (red base), Wet n Wild Pop up Blue-tique (blue base), Finger Paints Colorful Collage (holo hex glitter), Wet n Wild Don't Break the Circuit (blue magnetic) and a non name magnetic red from Rite Aid bought some years ago.

I forgot what an amazing red Orly Torrid is until I used it again for this mani. I had used it last for an anniversary mani some years ago. It looked amazing mattified at that time. I'm also very glad I didn't write off Don't Break the Circuit either after my last experience with it. So glad neodymium magnets started getting used with magnetic nail polishes! I love it much more than the magnets with designs right now.

That's all for now! See you next time!

Barry M Shocking Pink

I haven't decided on my July 4th mani yet, or even if I'm going to have one, so here is another swatch from the vault. It's a good one, Barry M Shocking Pink. I've already used it a few times in manis so I must really love this pink. This is an easy two coater. I picked this up during my very productive trip to London a few years ago.

There will be manis featuring this polish in the next several posts.

I took advantage of the gorgeous weather today to do a little workout outside and watch my son at the same time. It was perfect. Not too warm, not too windy. Just took my yoga mat, weights and my laptop outside and did a half hour of total cardio fix. Wish I lived somewhere where this was an option everyday!

Anyway, hope everyone has a fun July 4th and thanks for looking!!

Barry M Indigo with Finger Paints Daubigny's Garden

So, since my last post, things have pretty much gone back to normal at Casa NailaDay after the vacation. I'm looking at the vacation photos and dreaming of the next one already.

For today's post, I'm back to digging in the vault to show you an old one, since I will forever be playing catch up it seems. I wore this over a year ago, all the way back in probably Jan 2015. I had been wearing Barry M Indigo, a polish I loved so madly when I saw it at the store that I instantly bought a backup, when I went to Sally's just to look around. I saw Finger Paints Daubigny's Garden sitting on the shelf looking all sparkly and mysterious, and I knew they were a perfect match. I brought it home and did this mani. This is one coat of Daubigny's Garden dabbed over three coats of Barry M Indigo.

NailaDay: Barry M Indigo with Finger Paints Daubigny's Garden

In the bottle and over dark colors, the glitters in FP Daubigny's Garden have a green/gold duochrome shift. In the bottle there are some purple flashes as well but I didn't see it over the base of Barry M Indigo, I guess because it's also purplish. I will have to try it over lighter colors to see what other colors this chameleon glitter polish changes to. A quick internet search shows that the purple shade is more prominent over lighter colors.

NailaDay: Barry M Indigo with Finger Paints Daubigny's Garden

Here's a low light picture to really capture the duochromy shiftiness of the glitters in Daubigny's Garden.

NailaDay: Barry M Indigo with Finger Paints Daubigny's Garden

Here is my swach of Barry M Indigo, three coats. It was slightly harder to use than I had anticipated. The color is dark but the formula still required three coats for even coverage. I was hoping it would therefore have a more jelly like look but it doesn't so much in person. The brand new fresh coat of Seche Vite makes it looks wet in this picture but I got shrinkage soon after. I'll have to try it will Gelibility to see if that will solve some of these issues because I really do love the color. It's a blurple color but my camera kept wanting to take the purple out of it so I color corrected it by warming up the tone a bit. Now the color is accurate but my hands look jaundiced.

That's all folks. Again, thanks for looking!! Until next time!

Road trip and neon sunset gradient

Hi everyone!
We survived our first major road trip with the kids this past week! We drove to Asheville, NC, then to Blacksburg, PA, then to Laurel, MD, then all the way back home to Ohio. I can't believe that not only we survived, but nobody got majorly sick! My older son, the almost three year old, had his fussy moments and I came away with a minor rash but....that's it!! You know what they say, you haven't really hiked until you've picked up a rash or two. Well, maybe only I say that. And maybe only now because it makes me feel better. Anyway, we got to see so much family and a few friends. It was great!

Of course I took a couple of nail polishes with me to do my nails when I got the chance. I went with a bright sunset gradient look using Essie Fear and Desire and Wet n Wild Fergilicious from the Fergie line. The application, I'm sure, looks terrible since I didn't have any of my usual clean up tools with me. I really wished I had my latex skin barrier! But, all in all, I was very happy with it.

Barry M Red Glitter

I just sigh every time I see pictures of this polish. I think it should have been called Dorothy's Shoes. Unfortunately, it has the very uninspiring name of Red Glitter. That is such a generic term for this fiery, palpitation inducing, dream of a color!! This was my favorite polish to swatch of all the Barry M polishes, and there were a number of really good ones as you'll see in the several upcoming posts.

Now, on to lots of pictures.

Here are a couple from my bathroom. The different lighting gives it a much more orange-y glow.

As you can see, even just during the process of taking pictures, the top coat sunk farther and farther into the polish. This will require at least two coats to stay smooth. That's okay. That's a glitter for you!

Thanks for looking!!

Barry M Bright Red

Short post for you guys today. In this one and the next one, I'm going to show you the two Barry M red polishes I have. This is a very simple red, bright and clean looking. My definition of a tomato red. This is three coats but you can see that even then, there's a little bit of a visible nail line in the pictures. In real life, it was not as obvious.

My next post is going to be a very very sparkly Barry M red. I adored it sooo much so keep a lookout for that one.

On a personal note, we are on a much needed vacation this week. I still can't stay away from work a 100% but most of the time is spent running after my two little boys. They are growing up so fast it's amazing watching the tiny details of growth emerging each day. Here is a bonus picture of my older one watching a little bit of Daniel Tiger in the morning while we try to catch a few extra minutes of sleep.

Barry M Blueberry with watermarble and holo skittlette

I'm back with another manicure from the vault! I wore this about a year ago, when I started going through all my Barry M polishes and swatching those. Just to warn you, you will be seeing a lot of Barry M polishes in the next several weeks.

This manicure features Barry M Blueberry, a gorgeous effortless sky blue color that took three coats for opacity. I probably could have been fine with two but for a very stark nail line.

NailaDay: Barry M Blueberry with Orly Mirrorball

The silvery holo on my middle finger is Orly Mirrorball. I did a watermarble accent on my ring finger with Barry M Blueberry, Plum and Prickly Pear.

I have a bunch in this variation of blue. It's a favorite of mine.

Femme Fatale Lacquer Royal Rubies

This was a brand that is no longer active. The name always got me confused with Femme Fatale Cosmetics from Australia. I won this polish in a giveaway along with three others and always regretted that there were no more polishes being produced by her. I think they are beautiful. This is Femme Fatale Lacquer Royal Rubies, two coats layered over Love and Beauty Cherry.

NailaDay: Femme Fatale Lacquer Royal Rubies

The polish itself has a red jelly base square red holographic glitter and other much smaller red glitter. Those square glitters are EVERYTHING!!  I should have sponged those glitters on because I need more of a payoff of those glitters.

I took a few pictures with lowered exposure because you could see the holographic glitters much better that way.

A couple of days into it, I did a design with a stencil from Twinkled_T.

Square holo glitters = awesomeness.

Thank you.

Barielle Swizzle Stix

Ok, this is going to my very last Barielle polish post in quite some time. Not because I don't like them but because I have showed you pretty much all I have except for a couple. I have Elle's Spell but I have yet to be able to take a good enough picture of it, as awesome as it is.

In today's post, I'm showing you Barielle Swizzle Stix. It's hard to get the most accurate color in the photos but this is very very close. It does have a slightly warmer feel to it.

NailaDay: Barielle Swizzle Stix

It's a great color with a great formula. I used two coats here with topcoat. I had no trouble with application. I used it before in my mermaid mani last year.

Alright, that's it! On to Barry M polishes from my stash for the next several posts. Thanks for looking!
